Patrik Andiné - Artists - galerieforsblom.com

Born in Gothenburg 1968 I Lives and works in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Patrik Andiné’s imagery often depicts scenes that can be perceived as risqué. The viewer gets the feeling of observing something that was not intended to be seen. There is an element of voyeurism. In a diffusely contemporary setting, fragments of narratives unfold where the familiar and secure soon reveal something unpleasant, where the attractive soon transforms into something repulsive. Everything is portrayed with a technical equilibrium evocative of neoclassicism, with its precision and attention to detail. The often intimate format is reminiscent of eighteenth century miniature painting and something from this era, with its allegories and veiled depictions of whatever it may be, that should not be expressed, lingers in Andiné’s works. In these vaguely familiar yet alien interiors and realistically artificial landscapes, the viewer is confronted with ambiguity and a sense of ambivalence in the regions bordering the world of fairy tales or dreams.

Andiné studied at the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm (1990 – 1995) and at Hovedskous målarskola, Gothenburg. He has had several solo exhibitions and participated in many group shows. His works are included in several collections, such as Göteborgs konstmuseum in Gothenburg, Malmö Konstmuseum in Malmö and at Sveriges Allmänna Konstförening in Stockholm.
