CHART ART FAIR 2019
Tuukka Tammisaari & Stephan Ballkenhol
August 30–September 1, 2019
Booth 7

Galerie Forsblom is pleased to participate in CHART 2019, with works by Tuukka Tammisaari and Stephan Balkenhol.

Tuukka Tammisaari's oil paintings cover a wide spectrum ranging from cheeky playfulness to heavy monochrome. The artist describes art-making is his way of compiling an inventory of certain thoughts, events, stories, and feelings. Searching for the new and the unknown is both a perpetual challenge and source of inspiration for Tammisaari, whose work is informed by the legacy of western painting and allusions to art history, from minimalism through to German Neo-Expressionism..

German artist Stephan Balkenhol is one of the preeminent sculptors of our time. Carved from a single wood block and often incorporating a pediment, each work demonstrates the artist’s raw and spontaneous treatment of the material. Chisel marks, fissures and splinters show the medium as both living and inanimate. Moreover, the characters are painted in the simplest but most effective colors and color combinations.
