With an uncomparable consistency, Rita Lundqvist has been true to her iconography and her subdued palette. With increasingly precise brushstrokes and a hightened austerity in the  compositions, Lundqvist has been faithfull to her peculiar and somewhat hypnotic motifs. You could easily imagine the the groups depicted in her paintings replaced by simple geometric shapes such as an oblong, a cylinder or a triangle. The same could be true of the landscapes where the figures carry out there enigmatic chores and rituals – they are tinged by a sharpness asociated with geometrics. But added to these almost graphic structures - these naivistic iterations – the figures, with a gravity worthy of Buster Keaton, are engaged in their eccentric narratives adding up to what could be described as a symmetrical absurdism.

Lundqvist studied at The Royal University College of Fine Arts, Stockholm; Birkagårdens Konstskola, Stockholm and at Nyckelviksskolan, Lidingö, Sweden. Her works have been shown at gallery- and museum exhibitions, in Sweden and abroad. Her work is represented in several private and public collections such as Malmö konstmuseum, Malmö, Norrköpings konstmuseum, Norrköping and att Moderna Museet, Stockholm. In the early 2000s, her work was included in the traveling exhibition The Carnegie Art Award, Nordic Painting.
