Tuukka Tammisaari enlarges nature’s macro-level details to monumental proportions, capturing minutiae in dynamic, geometrical brushstrokes. The rough surface texture in Tammisaari’s paintings consists of multiple overlapping images and layers of paint, suggesting the wrinkled folds of an ancient turtle. The earthy, inflected hues and abstract forms of modernism find a playful new interpretation in Tammisaari’s oeuvre.
Tammisaari’s debut at Galerie Forsblom is accompanied by two exhibitions at the end of the year 2016 in Stockholm and New York. A commissioned work by Tammisaari was recently unveiled at the Samuji fashion brand’s flagship store on Erottajankatu in Helsinki. His work is represented in several private collections.
