Kiira Miesmaa is appointed CEO of Galerie Forsblom
We are pleased to announce that Kiira Miesmaa is returning to Galerie Forsblom after being a Senior Curator for the Kunsthalle Helsinki.
As part of a re-organization, Kiira Miesmaa will take on the post of CEO with overall responsibility for the two galleries in Helsinki and Stockholm and a separate department that will take care of art fairs and international sales.
”I am passionate about contemporary art and it was very inspiring to work elsewhere for a while. I learned so much, but I also felt drawn back to working with the gallery, which offers so many challenges and opportunities.” says Kiira, whose experience includes museum and institutional work in different roles and seven years with Galerie Forsblom.
Kiira Miesmaa will take over the day-to-day running of the gallery leaving gallery founder Kaj Forsblom free to concentrate on relationships with artists and collectors.
”Kiira Miesmaa has a great understanding of our goal to offer our Finnish, Swedish and international artists the best possible representation in the Nordic countries,” says Kaj Forsblom, ”The gallery´s success is based on great teamwork, and Kiira is a superb team leader.”
“I am thrilled and honoured to take on this new strategic responsibility and to take on the challenges every gallery faces in a fast-evolving global market. I look forward to collaborating with the artists, many of whom I have worked with for a long time. It will be exciting, moving forward. I enjoy the long-term aspect of working with an artist. All in all, continuity is the core of gallery operations,“ says Kiira Miesmaa.
Kiira Miesmaa starts at the gallery on October 14th.
