Galerie Forsblom is pleased to attend the biggest art fair in the Asia Pacific in a decade, ART SG 2023, with a solo presentation by the American artist Peter Halley. ART SG is presenting over 150 of the world’s leading galleries, and we are proud to be included in the carefully curated selection.
The booth installation is based on three large-scale paintings hung on a background of floor-to-ceiling digital murals made of reflective metallic foil and embossed with a repeating pattern of cartoon explosions. With this site-specific wallpaper created by the artist, the presentation is an immersive experience for the spectator. Stepping into the booth is stepping into a work of art.
Peter Halley is one of the most important artists of our time in the language of geometric abstraction. Since the early 1980s, he has employed this language to explore the organization of social space in the digital age. Using a limited set of geometric iconic elements, ‘cells’ and ‘prisons’ connected by ‘conduits,’ to describe not only spatial movement in postindustrial society but also the flow of information generated by computer networks, he has created a visual language that is both completely unique and technically immaculate. In recent decades, his work has branched out to encompass architectural-scale installations that include paintings, algorithmic flowcharts, digital prints, and other diverse media. In an era increasingly dominated by digital technology and social media, Halley’s influence—as artist, writer, magazine publisher and university professor—has been widely recognized.
