Born in London, 1960 I Lives and works in London
Isaac Julien ranks among Britain’s most acclaimed artists. After graduating from St. Martin’s School of Art in London in 1985, he came to prominence as a filmmaker who blurs boundaries between art, film, and dance. He is a Turner Prize nominee and the winner of numerous art and film awards.
His work is represented in the world’s leading art museums including the Museum of Modern Art MoMA and Solomon R. Guggenheim in New York and the Tate Modern in London. Julien was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2017.
