Tiina Elina Nurminen: Your Bouquet
Galerie Forsblom, September 15 – October 15, 2023

For Tiina Elina Nurminen, painting is a way of preserving moments and memories. She spends long hours with her paintings, listening to them with a sensitive ear, following their guidance, allowing them to lead the way as her gentle lines meander across the canvas, capturing moments and encounters that are meaningful to the artist. Nurminen’s paintings portray everyday scenes and moments spent in nature, drawing inspiration from the colors she sees and the emotions she feels.

Nurminen focuses on the three traditional elements of painting: light, color and line. Her palette is rich in shades of red, from delicate pinks to vibrant scarlet. Her brushstrokes echo a similar range, dancing between soft romanticism and vigorous expressionism. At times her paintings lean towards the figurative, while at other times they plunge in total abstraction.

Tiina Elina Nurminen (b.1967) graduated from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 1994 and later studied in Frankfurt under the tutelage of Per Kirkeby. Her work is represented in many of Finland’s most prestigious art collections, such as those of the Saastamoinen Foundation, Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, Espoo Museum of Modern Art EMMA and HAM Helsinki Art Museum.
