Chen Jiagang's solo show opened in Salo Art Museum on January 27.

In the photographs of Chen Jiagang, the Chinese countryside and city views combine into hypnotic images.  He builds a complex and ambiguous tension between the foreground and the background – between the individual and society, the man and his environment. His works express a concern about rapid economic growth and the effects of urbanization on morals in society and human relationships and a reflection on the relationship between history and the present. The multi-layered images are like today's China in miniature.
