Congratulations to Jacob Hashimoto for his first museum exhibition in Finland. His kite-installations fill the spacious premises of the Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art this summer. The exhibition presents large-scale installations, kite reliefs, prints and drawings along with never before seen works. Hashimoto’s overlapping translucent kites come together as multi-layered, multi-signifying installations. He echoes the polyphonic iconography of our urban environment and contemporary society by using repetition, patchworks of assorted patterns, and an exuberant palette of colors. The exhibition is on view through September 24.
