Jarmo Mäkilä: Palestine
Jarmo Mäkilä, Toni R. Toivonen, and Hannu Väisänen are participating in the group exhibition Pax – Let´s Talk about Peace in Vantaa Art Museum. The exhibition brings out different perspectives on the concept of peace. What does peace mean for the artist? What does it mean for a person living in this time and this history?
In the exhibition is on view Jarmo Mäkilä ’s painting Palestine, from the early 1980’s. The work was created as a statement for the international political conflict in the Middle East. The painting carries historical importance as it can be considered Finland's first street artwork.
