JENNY CARLSSON GRIP & Kristoffer Grip: Världsrötter
Sölvesborg Kunsthalle, Sweden
June 16–August 10, 2024

The exhibition has its starting point in the encounter with nature and the landscape, as well as its relation to art and as a playground for practical experiences. The trees, the earth, and the sky belong to a cyclical reality where seasons always follow each other and leave memories of the place in soil layers, annual rings, and wind-bitten crowns. This cyclical movement leaves room for a different view of time, for the non-linear and the unknown.

Jenny Carlsson Grip and Kristoffer Grip took their Master's degree at Umeå Academy of Art in 2013. They have since worked side by side and shared studios around Sweden. They now live and work in Blekinge, outside Ronneby, and in this meeting at Sölvesborg Art Gallery in the summer of 2024, they show their work together in an exhibition for the first time. The artists are firmly convinced about the importance of practical work with the material as a way forward in art and symbolically as cultivating the earth and meeting the new in what is created.
